Mel's Background
Background - Mel was born in Peekskill, NY and lived there until he was twelve when his father moved the family to Sydney, Australia.  Mel is the sixth of eleven children. 

Mel graduated from the National Institute of Dramatic Art, University of New South Wales and joined the State Theatre Company of South Australia. 

Film Debut - Gibson played Scollop, a surfer dude, in a low-budget film, "Summer City". 

Breakthrough Role - It didn't take long for Mel to become well-know worldwide.  His performances in Mad Max and the sequel, The Road Warrior took him to immediate star status. 

Family - Mel married former dental nurse Robyn Moore in 1980.  They have six children, Hannah, Edward, Christian, William, Louis, and Milo.
