. | Gwyneth Paltrow was born into a show business family where she was
exposed to theater at an early age. Gwyneth was fortunate to have roles
in many stage productions. She studied Art History at the University of
California at Santa Barbara, but left when she realized that she wanted
to pursue and acting career.
Her film debut was in the musical "Shout" with John Travolta, followed with a role in "Hook". She appeared with her mother, Blythe Danner, in "Cruel Doubt". Her first starring role was in the adaptation of the Jane Austen novel, "Emma".
