  • . Dustin Hoffman, the man who is an actor's actor.  In 1967 the world took notice of Dustin Hoffman who played Benjamin Braddock, a young man on the threshold of life in "The Graduate".  His first movie brought his first Oscar nomination.  The next time he was on the screen was as Ratso Rizzo in "Midnight Cowboy".  Another Oscar nomination. 

    Dustin Hoffman chose good roles with substance.  His portrayal of the comic in "Lenny" won him a third Oscar nomination.  He finally won the coveted Oscar with the fourth nomination for "Kramer vs. Kramer".  His critically acclaimed performance of a woman soap opera star in "Tootsie" brought him another nomination.  And, his second Oscar came from his in-depth portrayal of the autistic brother of Tom Cruise's character in "Rain Man'. 

    Having started out on stage, Hoffman returned to Broadway in "Death of a Salesman" and "Merchant of Venice". 

    Not all of his movies have been hits at the box office, but his latest, "Wag the Dog" brought him a Golden Globe nomination.
