Background Born in McComb, MS. Her family
moved to Carson, CA where Brandy grew up singing gospel music. She
attends Pepperdine University.
Family Her parents, Sonja and Willie manage
her career. She has a brother Ray J. who is also a singer and actor.
Recording Contract Brandy released her
first single at the age of 11. She signed a recording contract with
Atlantic Records and at 15 had a Billboard #1 single, "I Wanna Be Down"
in 1994.
TV Series Brandy's first TV series was
the short lived "Thea" in 1993. She played daughter Danesha Turrell.
Her next series, the popular "Moesha" has Brandy playing the title role.
Moesha's dad has remarried and she has to learn how to cope with the changes
in her teen life.
First Film Role The movie "Arachnophobia"
had Brandy playing Brandy Beechwood, one of the occupants of the town under
siege of killer spiders.
"Cinderella", Brandy plays the lead role in the Disney remake,
for TV, of the Rogers and Hammerstein musical. This version
has Whitney Houston as the Fairy Godmother and Whoopi Goldberg as Queen
Constantina, the mother of the prince.
