. | Alec Baldwin, born on April 3 in Massapequa, New York, is the most
well-known of the acting brothers: William, Stephen and Daniel. As if there
aren't enough from that one family, his cousin Joseph is also an actor.
Kidvid - Alec has been signed to narrate the next 26 episodes of the kidvid series "Thomas the Tank Engine & Friends." The new segments of "Thomas" will premiere domestically 15 August 1998 as part of the revamped program sked of the Fox Family channel cabler. Background Alec Baldwin's career began in TV, soap operas, small one time parts in drama series. It was his characterization of a psychotic, religious nut, the boyfriend of Lisa Hartman Black in "Knots Landing" that put him in the public eye. Alec's first leading man role in films was in "Hunt for Red October". Alec Baldwin succeeds at any acting challenge, heavily dramatic or lightly comedic, romantic lead or slimy bastard. On Broadway Alec took on the Brando role of Stanley Kowalski (Stellllaaaa) in "A Streetcar Named Desire" and the same in the TV mini-series "Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire". The series garnered him Golden Globe, Emmy and Screen Actors Guild Award nominations. Alec Baldwin gave a memorable performance and won great acclaim for his portrayal of the prosecutor in "Ghosts of Mississippi", and Alec battled elements (real snow), Anthony Hopkins (real mad), and a bear (real big) in "The Edge". Alec Baldwin married actress Kim Basinger in 1993. They have a daughter, Ireland, born in 1995. Oh, and don't be surprised if one day you see an 'Alec Baldwin for Senate' campaign ad.
