. | "Hope Floats", the
movie, unfolds on a Chicago TV show where the blonde (Rosanna Arquette)
tells the TV world that she is having an affair with her best friend's
husband. Birdee Pruitt is that best friend. Birdee turns troubled and uncertain
at the news. Birdee decides to leave and takes her young daughter Bernice
back home to Smithville Texas, the only place of refuge left to her. Bernice's
new romance is really her first high school love, Justin Matisse. In her
old hometown, she deals with her mother, her daughter who misses her father,
and a new romance.
Filming took place in Smithville, just an hour outside of Austin Texas. Budget - Estimated cost of Hope Floats is put at approximately
$30 million.
