Selena Celebration of Life

Opening 28 March 2001 at the Doolittle Theater in Hollywood CA

"Selena Celebration of Life" is an inspiring story of Selena's life through music. It is written to pay homage to the vibrant young artist who was an inspiration to her generation and will be an inspiration for generations to come. Her life is both an American success story and a tragedy. Although her career was short, Selena became Capitol EMI's best selling Latin singer. She received numerous awards including a 1994 Grammy.

Under the careful direction of Grammy and Emmy Award winner composer, arranger, and producer Fernando M. Rivas, the music production consists of new music written specifically for the musical, along with some of Selena's greatest hits. Mr. Rivas has worked with music giants such as Gloria Estefan, Celia Cruz, and Tito Puente. He was the 1997 recipient of the Richard Rogers Award for the musical theater piece "Barrio Babies."
