The Shania Twain has announced 22 new show dates for "Shania: Still
the One" at the Caesars Palace concert hall. The 22 new shows start this
fall and are in addition to the 12 shows starting 14 May 2013. Tickets
to the fall shows (15 October 2013 to 14 December 2013) go on sale Friday
10 May 2013. Shania Twain show ticket prices range from $55.00 to $250.00
plus fees. Reported Monday 6 May 2013.

There were 3.1 million visitors to Las Vegas in January 2013. That is
down slightly from January 2012. (3,154,639 visitors to Vegas in January
2013 compared to 3,132,122 visitors in January 2012). Convention
attendance was up with 571,964 attendees in January 2013 compared to 538,552
attendees in January 2012. Las Vegas citywide room occupancy for the month
of January 2013 was 78.1 percent. Average daily room rates were $114 per
night.

MGM Resorts International, together with AEG have entered into an agreement
to pursue the development of a 20,000 seat indoor arena. It will be located
west of the Las Vegas Strip, between the New York-New York and the Monte
Carlo, extending from Las Vegas Boulevard to Frank Sinatra Drive. Expect
to see boxing, sporting events, headline entertainment and other special
events. Design and planning is well underway. The partners are expected
to begin seeking appropriate approvals soon. The project will include retail
shops and dining. Reported 1 March 2013.
The Resorts World Las Vegas is scheduled for the 87-acre site where
the partially built Echelon project has sat for almost five years. The
Genting Group (a Malaysian conglomerate) announced on Monday 4 March 2013,
that they will break ground on the new development in 2014. It is to be
named the Resorts World Las Vegas. There will be pagoda-style roofs on
glass towers, martial arts performances, regional Chinese cuisine and a
family friendly atmosphere.
The Resorts World Las Vegas will include over 3,500 hotel rooms, convention
center and 4,000 set theater. Total cost at build-out is expected
to be $7 billion. Opening date is scheduled for 2016.
The Stardust resort was demolished in 2007 to make way for the $4.8
million Echelon project. The Echelon was to be opened in 2010 but was put
on hold indefinitely by the Boyd Gaming Corp. Reported 4 March 2013.
The Sahara Hotel Casino broke ground 14 February 2013 on the $415 million
renovations.. The SLS Las Vegas Hotel and Casino was formerly known at
the Sahara Hotel and Casino. There will be 1,600 guest rooms, retail shopping,
four nightlife venues, and several dining options. It is scheduled to open
in the Fall of 2014. The Sahara was closed on 16 May 2011.
