The Desert Inn, Las Vegas, is located on Las Vegas Blvd. just south of Desert Inn Road and a block from the Las Vegas Convention Center (which is located at northeast corner of Desert Inn Road and Paradise Road).

Future Plans - The 15 story Augusta tower of the Las Vegas Desert Inn was demolished early Tuesday morning 23 October 2001. This 50 year old building was imploded to make room for a new hotel by developer Steve Wynn. Tentative plans for Le Reve are for:

       $1.6 billion
       200 acre site of the old Desert Inn Resort
       42 story, 2,455 room glass tower which will be called Le Reve (French for "The Dream")
       4 acre man made lake
       3 acre pool
       120,000 sq. ft casino
       two 3,500 seat entertainment arenas.
       Mid 2004 tentative opening date.

Golf

The Desert Inn features a well known championship golf course. The 18 holes are on a 7,193 yard, par 72 course. Water hazards border 9 of the 18 holes on this Lawrence Hughes designed course. The Desert Inn golf course has been host to major PGA golf tours. Reservations may be made through the Desert Inn Official Web Site .

History
The Desert Inn opened in 1950 and included a golf course. Howard Hughes lived at the Desert Inn and purchased it in 1966. The Desert Inn resort officially closed at 2 p.m. Monday 28 August 2000. The Desert Inn opened its doors April 24, 1950.
