The Las Vegas Convention Center is located one block east of the Las Vegas Strip on Paradise Road and three miles from McCarran Airport.

The official opening of the Las Vegas Convention Center was on April 29, 1959. It has grown a lot since then.

• 1.9 million square feet of exhibit and meeting space.
• Largest single level convention facility in America.
• Completed an expansion in October 1998.
• 12 exhibit halls (1,040,000 sq. ft.) separable by movable walls.

Expansion

The $150 million South Hall expansion broke ground in April 2000. The new South Hall is a two-story exhibition hall and will have 51  new meeting rooms and approximately 80,000 square feet dedicated  to food service facilities, including a 500-seat restaurant and eight concession stands.

• Increase meeting and exhibit space from 1.9 million to 3.2 million square feet.
• Add approximately 918,000 square feet of exhibit space.
• Add approximately 91,000 square feet of meeting space.
• Completion is scheduled for December 2001.

Hotels nearby

The Las Vegas Hilton is right next door to the Las Vegas Convention Center and is the closest hotel. The walk from the lobby of the Hilton to the Convention Center takes about 5 minutes.

The Riviera Hotel is a large half block away from the Las Vegas Convention Center (from the rear entrance to the Riviera). The walk is more like 10 minutes.
